On May 28th, World Blood Cancer Day, Stephen Edwards took on an Everesting challenge with a mission: climb 10,000 metres and raise £10,000 for Cure Leukaemia.

After five incredible years supporting The Tour21 Tour de France charity event dedicated to supporting this cause, it was time to give back in a deeply personal way. He chose Mallorca’s Puig Major as the battleground, setting off at midnight for 12 full ascents. 353 km. Over 10,500 m climbed. Nearly 19 hours.

“The first few climbs in the dark felt manageable. But midday brought the heat and climbs 6 to 9 nearly broke me. Then something clicked on climb 10, and I found my rhythm again. The final laps were full of joy.”

James ended up smashing both goals: climbing over 10,500 metres, raising an amazing £13,500 and finding strength in moments that felt impossible.

Bonus highlight? His sister flying in from the UK to surprise him on course.

“Everesting had always been on my bucket list, but doing it for something so close to my heart made it even more meaningful.”

This is what it’s all about. Well done Stephen 👏
