“I have deep respect for anyone brave enough to attempt the impossible—it’s better than living a life of regret”
everesting in no man’s land
Matt Dove recently attempted a double Everesting on the infamous Sani Pass. As the most treacherous road in South Africa, Sani Pass sits in no man’s land between the South African and Lesotho borders. This was the first-ever attempt of its kind on this daunting route, requiring over 300 km of running, climbing a total altitude of 17,698 meters—the equivalent of summiting Mount Everest twice—all through continuous repeats.
The challenge wasn’t just about personal achievement; it was dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer and supporting a local family who tragically lost their mother and wife to the disease. Partnering with the I Love Boobies foundation, he aimed to bring attention to breast cancer awareness and show the power of community in the face of hardship.
If you’re considering an Everesting attempt, here is Matt’s advice:
“Always remember, ‘How does a mouse eat an elephant? One bite at a time.’
Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
The journey is worth it.”
