Lago Baroni – Ecuador
“It was 75 hours of pure passion and suffering”
Unsupported Double Everesting trail run in Ecuador
“We covered 133km with 18,370 metres of elevation. Slept for an hour and a half. No assistance on the descents. It was 75 hours of pure passion and suffering.”
On 21 February 2025, ultra-endurance athlete and mountaineer Lago Baroni completed the first unsupported Double Everesting trail run in Ecuador, becoming just the third person in Latin America to do it.
The effort was personal. A tribute to Aslan, a street dog who became his mountain companion. When Aslan passed from cancer, Lago turned the grief into purpose.
“This was for him. And for all the others still out there.”
In Ecuador, thousands of dogs live and die on the streets. This run raised food and funds for Fundación Camino a Casa, a local rescue in Quito giving abandoned animals a second chance.
Sometimes, the hardest climbs carry more than just elevation.
Well done, Lago 👏
