“I’d been wanting to do an Everesting for years. It was always on my mind, like a thorn in my side”
On 14 June 2025, Fonsi Ortega Everested in Barcelona riding from the Arrabassada up to Tibidabo.
A personal challenge? Yeah. But it was also a ride for a good cause.
“I’d been wanting to do an Everesting for years. It was always on my mind, like a thorn in my side… and after doing a bike trip from Barcelona to Valencia last month, it was obvious that now was the time”, Fonsi says.
The reason behind it gave every metre meaning. “I wanted it to truly mean something so I decided to raise funds for Grans Causes – Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona to fight against child cancer.”
It was a long day. Heat. Effort. Focus. And a community that showed up when it mattered.
“The day itself was intense. I started at 5 in the morning and finished at night, suffered from the heat, suffered some more… but people came to cheer and ride with me, donating, and that pushed me on.”
A climb repeated. A cause embraced. A goal reached.
