Colin’s Tribute Ride on Mont Ventoux: “Everesting has been truly life changing”
Colin Zaczyk took on an Everesting on Mont Ventoux in honour of his mum, who lost her fight with cancer, raising an incredible £13,800 for PLANETS Southampton, the charity that supported her.
With just 2,000 miles a year in his legs, he trained for nine months, logging 6,000 miles of hill repeats to his mum’s favourite songs. The challenge? Mont Ventoux, legendary, brutal, and deeply meaningful, with “MUM” written on his bike.
Colin’s wife joined him for two ascents, his partner on the mountain Scott endured all six with him, and a dedicated crew of friends supported every turn of the pedals. In total, their team conquered Mont Ventoux 25 times in one unforgettable effort. Since then, Colin has been hooked on big challenges and has his sights set on Stelvio.
He says: “Everesting has been truly life changing for me, it strengthened me psychologically and physically, at 53 years old am in the shape of my life – so thank you for the inspiration.”
