Pick your route anywhere in the world and climb the height of your chosen Everesting Challenge in a single, continuous activity.
Just hit the SUBMIT button in our Hall of Fame, log in to your account and upload your Strava activity.
We will carefully review your attempt, and once approved, you’ll earn your place among thousands of trailblazers, athletes, and adventurers in our global Crew.
To complete the challenge you must gain the total elevation of your chosen Everesting Challenge in one effort.
- Quarter Everesting 2,212m (7258ft)
- Half Everesting 4,424m (14,515ft)
- Full Everesting 8,848m+ (29,029ft+)
- Everesting Half ROAM 4,424m+ (14,515ft+), Full ROAM 8,848m+ (29,209ft+) or 10k ROAM 10,000 m+ (32,809 ft+)
Check potential routes and segments on the Everesting Calculator to make sure they are appropriate.
Your attempt must be recorded on Strava. Because GPS elevation is unreliable for climbing, vertical gain is calculated using the height of the climbing route.
To determine vertical gain:
– Measure or confirm the vertical height of the route.
– Multiply this by the number of successful ascents completed.
Example:
- Route height 15m
- Number of climbs 590
15m × 590 = 8850m
Participants should document the route height used for the calculation. For longer outdoor climbs, participants may alternatively calculate elevation using pitch count:
- Multiply the number of pitches climbed by the average pitch height.
- Multiply this by the number of times the route is completed.
ONE WALL (EVERESTING ORIGINAL)
- Anything that has vertical gain can be used to complete a rock climbing Everesting. Your attempt must focus on one climbing route or wall.
- Each repeat must be a full ascent from the base of the route to the top. You cannot combine multiple routes to simulate different climbs. Once you hit your climbing target you may finish the final ascent at the top of the route.
- You may start and finish from any point on the climb (i.e you can descend first).
MULTIPLE WALLS (EVERESTING ROAM)
Everesting ROAM removes the requirement to repeat a single climbing route. You may complete the challenge across multiple routes or walls, accumulating vertical gain until the required ROAM elevation target is reached.
ROAM can be completed as:
- Half Everesting ROAM 4424m+ (14,515ft+)
- Full Everesting ROAM – 8,848m+ (29,209ft+)
- Everesting 10k ROAM – 10,000 m+ (32,809 ft+)
Routes may vary in height, difficulty, or location, provided the vertical gain can be clearly documented. All other Everesting rules still apply.
Indoor Everestings can be completed on any climbing wall or auto-belay route.
Route height should be determined using the gym’s stated wall height or by measurement.
Participants should document the route used and wall height.
Outdoor Everestings can be completed on any established climbing route or crag. Route height should be determined using guidebooks, published route information, or reliable measurement.
Each repeat must begin at the base of the route and end at the top of the route. Descending may be completed by walking down, rappelling, or lowering.
Descending does not count toward vertical gain. You may descend by any means, including:– Walking down
- Rappelling
- Lowering from anchors
- Auto-belay systems (indoors)
- The challenge must be completed in one attempt with no sleep. Breaks for meals are acceptable.
- You can break for as long as you need. Keep in mind this counts toward the total elapsed time.
- Your final time for the challenge is taken as the total elapsed time of the attempt, not the total climbing time.
