Over 130 cyclists gathered in Villach on Saturday 30 May for the inaugural Everesting Austria, an official Everesting event held on the Dobratsch Alpine Road in Carinthia. Participants took on a range of elevation-based challenges, from Team and Quarter Everesting formats to the full Everesting challenge, requiring riders to accumulate 8,848 metres of elevation gain, equivalent to the height of Mount Everest.
The event was held on the iconic climb to Dobratsch, with the [XX-kilometre] stretch of the panoramic road closed to traffic for the occasion, allowing participants to complete repeated ascents in a controlled environment. Riders were able to choose between different challenge formats according to their objectives and experience level, combining competitive and personal achievement goals within the same event.
Jack Burke, Everesting World Champion since his victory in Sicily in September 2025, and former pro cyclist Samantha Arnaudo took the top spots in the Solo Full Everesting category at the Villach–Dobratsch event on Saturday 30 May.
Burke completed his Full Everesting, 8 laps of the Dobratsch climb, in 7:15:27. Arnaudo finished in 8:29:47. As a reminder, in the Everesting official events only the time going up the hill is considered, not the descends.
The Half Everesting winners were Federico Sorbara (4:30:14) and Anna Wucherer (5:28:31). The Quarter winner in male category was Christian Kanduth (2:22:05) and the Eighth category was led by Peter Rittinger (1:57:53) and Jeannette Warko (3:41:10).
In Teams, the winners of the Team of 2 category were “CLR Sauwald Schwarzm ller“ with 7:51:54. Team of 4 winners were “Knappenhütte“ with 14:06:32 and the top of the podium in the Team of 8 category were “SYN Crew & Friends“ with 9:23:22.
