Participants will also receive a training guide with coaching support from registration through the event, along with medical and physiotherapy services during the challenge. Transfers from the arrival airport, if needed, are also included, as is a complete hiking gear kit. And there’s more to ensure an unforgettable experience!
Our challenge is designed for anyone eager to pursue self-improvement, set new goals and push their limits. Naturally, a minimum level of physical fitness is necessary, and generally, anyone accustomed to regular exercise—especially those who run or hike frequently—can take on the Everesting 48h Challenge.
For those less experienced, we make available the preparation plan included with the registration in the months leading up to the event. This plan is specifically designed to help participants build the fitness and confidence needed to successfully complete the challenge.
No, the entry fee does not include airfare. However, everything will be taken care of once you arrive at your destination airport or, if traveling by your own means, upon reaching the mountain. From check-in on Thursday through departure on Monday, all your needs will be covered.
The minimum age to participate in the Everesting 48h event is 18 years old. However, participants aged 16 or 17 may participate if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. In such cases, the minor must be registered with the accompanying adult and share a tent with them.
To ensure the highest quality and an enjoyable experience for all, the number of participants is capped at 400.
Yes, to ensure the best experience for everyone, participants must present a medical certificate confirming their fitness for a challenge like the Everesting 48h. The certificate must be signed by a licensed physician following an examination conducted no more than one year before the event. It must be presented (in paper or digital format) during registration on Friday starting at 9:00 AM. Submission of the certificate is mandatory to receive your race bib and timing devices.
Yes. We offer a payment plan in four installments, with 30% upfront to reserve your spot and the remaining 70% divided into three installments to be paid before the event begins.
The venue for the Everesting 48h Challenge is the Ordino-Arcalís ski resort in Andorra, specifically in the area known as La Coma, at an altitude of 2,220 meters, where the Creussans Chairlift is located. This will be the central hub of the event, with all the services and facilities, and from there begins the Creussans Trail, which is the focus of our challenge.
There is a paved road, the CS-380, known as the Arcalís Road, which is in excellent condition and ends right at La Coma. The venue is about 18 kilometers from the town of Ordino, the closest population center, which can be reached via the main road CG-3. However, about 10 kilometers from La Coma, you’ll find the small village of El Serrat.
Yes, we fully privatize the La Coma area at the Ordino-Arcalís ski resort, and only our activities will take place during the days of the Everesting 48h Challenge. However, families, companions and other spectators will be able to access the area and use the Creussans chairlift to reach the Tristaina Viewpoint to cheer on participants.
There will be designated smoking areas at the venue.
The Everesting camp opens at 5:00 PM on Thursday, marking the start of the experience. From this moment, participants can enjoy all the benefits included in their registration. On Friday morning, registration begins at 9:00 AM, where participants will receive their bibs and tracking devices. A briefing session will follow, led by the head coach and instructors, to prepare everyone for the challenge. Throughout the day, the Telesilla de Creussans will be operational, allowing participants to explore and familiarize themselves with the route.
The hiking challenge officially begins at 6:00 PM on Friday and continues non-stop until 6:00 PM on Sunday evening. Afterward, at around 8:30 PM on Sunday, a celebratory event will bring the participants together to commemorate their accomplishments. Departure and check-out are scheduled for Monday morning, with participants expected to leave by 10:00 AM.
Yes, participants are welcome to bring companions to the event. However, the accommodations and services included with registration are exclusively for participants. While some sections of the route are restricted to participants, spectators are welcome near the start area and can also ride the gondola to the summit to cheer on the participants.
We provide recommendations for alternative accommodations for companions in nearby hotels at special rates. The food and beverage area at La Borda de La Coma is reserved for participants, but companions will have access to a variety of food trucks.
Participants need relatively minimal gear for the Everesting 48h challenge. Trekking poles are highly recommended, along with a headlamp for those planning to hike during the night. Warm clothing is essential, as well as lighter layers to adapt to varying weather conditions. We suggest wearing moisture-wicking layers to stay comfortable throughout the day and night, and trail shoes for extra traction on the mountain trails.
The Everesting 48h Challenge is primarily a personal challenge, focused on self-improvement rather than competition. The goal is to complete the event and push your own limits, making every finisher a winner in their own right. However, participants will carry timing devices to record the time for each ascent and the total time taken to accumulate 8,848m. An overall ranking will be established, along with category-specific and age-group rankings for those interested in their comparative performance.
Each time a participant completes their 19th ascent, they will receive a personalized recognition for having completed the challenge. Afterwards, at the end of the event on Sunday night, a collective celebration will be organized, including a dinner and a party, so that all participants can share such a special moment together.
From Thursday afternoon until Sunday, several expert hikers and ultra-endurance specialists, including our head coach, will be present at the event. Before the challenge begins, throughout the preparation phase, an accompanying program will be available to all participants. Once on-site, on Thursday and Friday, the monitors and coaches will be available for any questions and to accompany participants during the route reconnaissance. During the challenge, they will also be present to offer any necessary support.
The Creussans Trail is a dirt path that connects La Coma, at an altitude of 2,220 meters, with the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, at 2,700 meters. It is about 3 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 480 meters, averaging a gradient of almost 20%. The trail winds through untouched landscapes, passing by lakes, with high mountain vegetation and the possibility of encountering local wildlife, such as a chamois, lynx, or salamander.
There are some alternative trails that take different routes between La Coma and the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, but they are steeper and less safe, and therefore, they are not part of the Everesting 48h Challenge event. For the ascent to be validated, it must be done along the defined path, which includes several timing checkpoints and ensures safety, especially at night. For this reason, it will be prohibited to use other trails that are not part of the event and do not count towards the challenge.
Although there is no mandatory start time, and each participant can decide when to begin their journey, the official start of the Everesting 48h Challenge at 6:00 PM on Friday is a unique moment for all 400 participants. To ensure safety and avoid congestion at this initial stage, the start will be organized in groups of 20 participants, with each group setting off at 30-second intervals. This approach allows everyone to begin their challenge within a 10-minute window following the official kick-off, ensuring a smooth and memorable start for all.
Yes, the Creussans Chairlift will be operational continuously throughout the entire event, not just during the 48 hours of the challenge, but from Friday, May 30th at 11:00 AM until Sunday, June 1st at 8:30 PM.
Yes, descents must always be made using the Creussans Chairlift, which will operate continuously throughout the entire event.
The challenge begins at 6 PM on Friday and continues until 6 PM on Sunday. During this 48-hour period, the gondola operates non-stop, allowing you to hike whenever you wish, day or night. It’s not required to hike continuously for the full duration—each participant determines their own pace to complete the 19 ascents needed to achieve the Everesting goal.
Some participants aim to complete the challenge without resting, while others prefer to hike during the day and rest at night. Many hike through the night until sunrise, enjoying the calm and beauty of the early hours. We encourage everyone to experience at least one hike at sunset and another at sunrise, as well as a nighttime hike, to fully appreciate the unique and magical atmosphere of these moments.
Basic lighting devices will be placed along the trail and activated during nighttime to ensure it remains visible at all times. However, participants are still required to use headlamps.
The only permanent infrastructure at the venue is La Borda de la Coma restaurant. There are no hotels or shops in the area. This means that, aside from utilizing the restaurant to provide meals throughout the 48-hour event, all other necessary facilities will be temporarily installed specifically for the event.
For accommodation, a glamping-style camp will be set up, featuring fully equipped tents with beds, mattresses, duvets, and sheets. Additionally, there will be flush toilets (not chemical) and hot-water showers to ensure participant comfort.
Yes, a dedicated parking area is available at the venue, exclusively reserved for participants.
Yes, a sufficient number of hot showers will be installed in the tented camp, ensuring participants can use them at any time throughout the 48-hour event.
It is a four-seat chairlift with a length of 1,060 meters, covering an elevation gain of 220 meters in approximately 20 minutes.
For Everesting 48h participants, direct shuttle transfers are organized to provide easy access to Ordino-Arcalís from the nearest airports: Barcelona, Toulouse, Girona, Perpignan, or Reus. These shuttles will operate on Thursday, May 29, with several trips scheduled throughout the day to accommodate various arrival times. Return shuttles will run on Monday, June 2, ensuring a smooth travel experience to and from the event. Just relax and enjoy the journey to this stunning mountain destination!
Once both individuals are registered, it will be possible to request pairing to share a tent. Typically, tents will be assigned by gender. However, in special cases, requests to share a tent with someone of a different gender will be accommodated, provided both parties explicitly agree.
The dining experience at the Everesting 48h Challenge is crafted by a Michelin-starred chef, designed to meet the nutritional and energy demands of a physically intense and challenging event. For the entire 48-hour duration, participants will have access to a non-stop buffet featuring healthy, high-calorie dishes specifically tailored for the occasion, all without sacrificing taste and quality.
Absolutely. There will be food options available for gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan diets, as well as for those with nut or seafood allergies. Any other allergies or conditions should be communicated to the organization, and we will make our best effort to accommodate them.
Yes, there will be food trucks available for spectators, and participants may also purchase food from them. However, this is not included in the registration fee. Only food and beverages at the event restaurant are included.
At the La Coma base, a comprehensive medical service will be available to handle any situation that may arise. This team will consist of two certified doctors and one medical assistant. They will have the necessary resources for emergency interventions and crisis recovery. Additionally, a medicalized vehicle will be on hand for urgent evacuations.
Furthermore, there will be two strategically located medical points: at the summit of the climb, near the Tristaina Viewpoint, to assist participants who may need care after completing the ascent, and midway through the route, to provide support during the journey. These services are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
In case of need, the medical services present at the event, both at the La Coma base and at various points along the route, will evaluate the best way to provide medical attention, either on-site or, if necessary, by transferring the person to the Primary Care Center in the town of Ordino (18 km away, about 20 minutes) or to the Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital in Escaldes-Engordany (25 km away, about 30 minutes).
The service will be available non-stop throughout the entire event, from Friday to Sunday, in a space specifically dedicated to the recovery and treatment of participants, staffed by qualified and experienced professionals. Both conventional physiotherapy with massage and cryotherapy with a cold chamber will be available. We will aim to scale these services appropriately so that everyone who needs them can enjoy them. However, it is likely that schedules and waiting lists will need to be established.
The all-inclusive food & beverage offering, from Thursday dinner to Sunday afternoon, will include a moderate consumption of beer and wine. Spirits will only be served in a limited capacity during the Sunday night celebration.
The program includes a specific training plan for the Everesting 48h Challenge, covering fitness, nutrition, and mental preparation. The program consists of a standard plan for all participants, featuring one collective weekly webinar where participants can ask questions and consult with our coaches plus the option to submit queries via email. Additionally, participants will have the option to design a customized plan with a dedicated coach for an additional cost.
In the unlikely event of cancellation due to force majeure up to 24 hours before the start, participants will be offered a choice between a 90% refund of their registration fee or the option to transfer their participation to another event.
The event organizers will continuously monitor weather conditions, prioritizing participant safety. If any situation arises that could endanger participants—such as a lightning storm—the event will be paused and will resume only once conditions are deemed safe. In such cases, the timeframe to complete the challenge will be extended to allow for the full 48 hours.
In the extreme case that adverse weather forces the cancellation of the event after it has already started, no refunds will be issued. However, the organization will make every effort to compensate participants, particularly those unable to complete the challenge.
If a weather-related cancellation occurs before 6:00 PM on Friday, participants will be offered the choice between transferring their registration to another event or receiving a 50% refund.
In addition, there will be a selection of portable items such as fruits, energy bars, gels, and jellies available for participants to take along the route.
Several aid stations will also be set up along the course, where participants can hydrate, refresh themselves, and collect food items to keep them energized throughout the challenge.
If the event is impacted by any global pandemic, or by any force majeure or third circumstance, it is at the Event organizer sole discretion whether and when to reschedule or postpone it.
Inscription acquired for an Event that is postponed will be valid for use on the date the Event is rescheduled for the location originally purchased.
If the Event is postponed and the customer does not wish to participate in the rescheduled date, each Ticket will be issued a full refund once the Event Provider has authorized refund excluding the booking fee costs.
If no future event is announced at the time of the transfer request, Everesting reserves the right to hold the registration fee for up to 6 months while evaluating potential future events. After this period, participants may choose between a refund (subject to the applicable refund policy) or a transfer to the next announced event.
Event organizer does not refund any travel or other costs outside of the event registration associated with postponed events.
Simply taking on the challenge and giving it your best is a victory in itself—never a failure. However, only those who complete all 19 ascents will be recognized as finishers and added to the Everesting Hall of Fame. Regardless, not reaching the goal, for any reason, is sure to become a powerful motivation to try again, challenge your limits, and continue your journey of self-improvement.
